The Story Behind the Story: One of the greatest joys of creating Elf~Fin was asking a simple question: what if an epic fantasy unfolded almost entirely beneath the sea?

That question led Jozef Szekeres and me to build the ocean world of Elf~Threaal, where every aspect of life—from culture and politics to prophecy and spirituality—was shaped by the sea. Nature documentaries, marine life and countless world-building discussions all found their way into the pages of this story.

We were delighted to share this special MerCon Edition with fellow lovers of merfolk and underwater fantasy, and that the “mers’ who attended MerCon were inspired to dive deeper into the world of Elf~Threaal.
