Julie Ditrich will be presenting a session called “How to Get Started in the World of Comics and Graphic Novels” at the Australian Society of Authors (ASA) Calling All Illustrators – Two Day Event in October 2019. Julie is the first Australian woman to write for The Phantom. How did she get there? Julie talks about her career path, the definitions of comics and graphic narratives and understanding their formats as well as ways in which illustrators can get a start in comics. She will also talk about work opportunities both in Australia and overseas and why the illustrator who can also write comics is the ultimate creative power player. The event will be held on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 October 2019. Julie’s session will be on the Friday afternoon followed by a Meet the Publishers and Receive Individual Feedback Portfolio Review Session.
